GirlsTech

Is an Erasmus+ KA2 project, Agreement Number 2016-1-NL01-KA202-022993

Reasons for GirlsTech project

The Idea for the GirlsTech project was mentioned during the first INNOTECS conference in 2015. Participants at the conference wondered why there was a difference in the amount of girls participating in STEM-studies in VET.

•Shortages in STEM areas
•Most obvious and largest reservoir of talents are girls/women as they are 50% of the population
•In NL a special ‘think-tank gender’ was established to advise the Minister on these issues in STEM areas
•Think-tank advised to investigate the situation in some other countries
•Why are some countries better performing than others
  • Question behind: how to explain sometimes a large participation on the STEM-labour market but low in VET STEM programs

Projectpartners

Because there is so much variety in the amount of girls participating in STEM in Europe, the applicating projectpartner was looking for partners in the INNOTECS network that matched a High- medium or low score.

What are we going to do?

•8 documents (one from each country) : each country provides a document with the featured GPs and the program of their meeting

•8 meetings for all participants (Skype in between)

•8 reflection reports; after each meeting 1 report with the reflections of each country regarding the program and instruments

•toolbox of procedures and instruments
•1 final report ; containing the above mentioned documents + general conclusions and recommendations
•Publication of the final report on the website of INNOTECS + website of the participants.
